When a player scores a century for their team in a T20 match, it often leads to an easy victory. This is true for global T20 tournaments like the IPL as well. Although it’s rare to see a player score a century in the 20-over format, some cricketers have managed to achieve this feat when they’re having a great day.

1. Chris Gayle 175 vs Pune Warriors (IPL 2013)

Chris Gayle, also known as the Universe Boss, made history during IPL 2013 by scoring the highest
individual score by a batsman in the tournament’s history. He achieved this while playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team.

Gayle played an incredible knock of 175 runs off just 66 balls, which included 17 sixes and 13 fours against the Pune Warriors.

He reached his century in just 30 balls during this extraordinary innings. RCB also set the record for the highest ever IPL team total during this game by posting 263 for 5 in 20 overs.

They went on to restrict Pune to 133/9, winning the match by a comprehensive 130 runs.

2. Brendon McCullum 158 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (IPL 2008) 

Brendon McCullum, the opener for KolkataKnight Riders (KKR), gave a spectacular start to the IPL by playing a remarkable knock of 158 runs off just 73 balls in the first match of the inaugural season against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The flamboyant New Zealand opener hit a total of 10 fours and 13 sixes during his unbeaten innings, making history in the process. Thanks to McCullum’s brilliant innings, KKR won the match by a comfortable margin of 140 runs.

3. Quinton de Kock 140 vs Kolkata Knight Riders (IPL 2022)

During the 2022 IPL match, Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders faced off, and it was Quinton de Kock who stole the show with an unforgettable performance.

He played a stunning knock of 140* off 70 balls and partnered with KL Rahul, who contributed an unbeaten 68 off 51 deliveries, to create an unbeaten 210-run partnership.

The left-handed South African cricketer hit 10 fours and sixes each in his innings, and Lucknow Super Giants did not lose a single wicket during the entire match.

4. AB de Villiers 133 vs Mumbai Indians (IPL 2015)

AB de Villiers, while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, played an outstanding innings of 133 runs off just 59 balls against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2015. De Villiers and Virat Kohli set a new record partnership of 215 runs in the match, with Kohli scoring 82 runs.

De Villiers, who is also known as ‘Mr. 360 degrees’, hit the MI bowlers all over the park, smashing 19 fours and 4 sixes to help his team secure a 39-run victory.

4. KL Rahul 132 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (IPL 2020)

In the previous edition of the IPL held in the UAE, KL Rahul, the current captain of Lucknow Super Giants and former player of Kings XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings), was in tremendous form with the bat throughout the season.

He played an incredible innings of 132 runs off 69 balls, hitting 14 fours and 7 sixes in a match against Bangalore. Rahul now holds the record for the highest individual score by an Indian player in the IPL.

Punjab Kings registered a brilliant 97-run win in that match, an Rahul ended the tournament as the leading run-scorer, having notched up 670 runs in 14 games
