The first edition of the Rajasthan Premier League (RPL), the domestic T20 cricket tournament of Rajasthan, is starting on 27th August 2023. The opening match will be played between Jodhpur Sunrisers and Jaipur Indians at Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur.
The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has organised this league which will feature 6 teams – Jaipur Indians, Jodhpur Sunrisers, Udaipur Lake City Warriors, Jaanbaaz Kota Challengers, Shekhawati Soldiers Sikar and Bhilwara Bulls.
These 6 franchises will compete in a double round-robin format where each team plays the other twice, followed by playoffs.
Some prominent Rajasthan players who will be seen in action during the league are Deepak Chahar, Deepak Hooda, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Rahul Chahar, Mahipal Lomror and Aniket Choudhary.
The league will provide a great platform for young Rajasthan cricketers to showcase their skills.
The league stage will have 30 matches played over two weeks. The top 4 teams will then qualify for the playoffs which include Qualifier 1 (between the top 2 teams).
Eliminator (between 3rd and 4th placed sides), Qualifier 2 (between the loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of Eliminator) and Final (between winners of Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2).
