IPL 2024: Remaining Purse Value of All 10 Teams [December Update]

IPL 2024: Remaining Purse Value of All 10 Teams: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 player auction is just around the corner, set to take place on December 19th in Dubai. This marks the first time the high-profile auction will be held outside of India.

IPL 2024 Remaining Purse Value of All 10 Teams [December Update]

With the retention and release deadline having passed on November 26th, the 10 IPL franchises have solidified their squads heading into the auction.

While most teams retained their core players as expected, there were a few surprising releases back into the auction pool. Spinners Wanindu Hasaranga (Royal Challengers Bangalore) and Shardul Thakur (Kolkata Knight Riders).

Fast bowler Jofra Archer (Mumbai Indians) and middle-order batsman Shahrukh Khan (Punjab Kings), were among the biggest-name players cut from retention lists. Their removals surely shook up the player market.

These released players will now have a chance to garner big-money contracts from new franchises when they hit the auction block.

Leading up to the event, teams still have an open trading window to exchange retained players until a week before the auction on December 12th. So it’s possible we could see some high-profile player swaps between franchises before the gavel drops.

When it comes to purse money available for spending during the auction, some teams are in better financial shape than others. The BCCI allotted each franchise INR 100 crores (about $122 million) for retention and purchases, an INR 5 crore increase from the previous auction.

Here’s a breakdown of the remaining purse value for each squad for IPL 2024:

Rajasthan Royals – INR 14.5 Crores

Mumbai Indians – INR 15.25 Crores

Chennai Super Kings – INR 31.4 Crores

Sunrisers Hyderabad – INR 34 Crores

Delhi Capitals – INR 28.95 Crores

Punjab Kings – INR 29.1 Crores

Royal Challengers Bangalore – INR 40.75 Crores

Gujarat Titans – INR 13.85 Crores

Kolkata Knight Riders – INR 32.7 Crores

Lucknow Super Giants – INR 13.15 Crores

RCB Remaining purse value and Players

The Royals and Titans have the least to spend with purse values under INR 15 crore. Meanwhile, RCB has a sizable INR 40.75 crore at their disposal, the highest total.

It will be fascinating to see how teams utilize their budgets to fill gaps in their lineups. Some may splurge on high-priced superstars up for auction.

Others might value squad depth and spread out their purchases more evenly. Either way, the IPL 2024 auction promises to bring in a new era for the world’s premier T20 league.
