Which Country will host IPL 2024?

UAE has Been the Favourite Destination For BCCI.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has always been a backup option for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) if they need to schedule any tournaments outside of India.

The first time the IPL was played in the UAE was in 2014. The first half of the tournament was hosted there because there were general elections happening in India at the same time. The second half of the IPL was then played in India after the elections.

In 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the first part of the IPL happened in India but then the second part was shifted to the UAE.

Also, the whole 2020 IPL tournament took place in the UAE. So if the IPL in 2024 can’t be held in India, the UAE would likely be the first place the BCCI looks at to host it.

Sri Lanka Is also a Good choice for IPL 2024

Sri Lanka could be a surprise choice to host the IPL. Not many Sri Lankan players are part of the IPL, but in the last few seasons, some top Sri Lankan cricketers have gotten good deals to play.

Also, the 2023 Asia Cup tournament was shifted from Pakistan to Sri Lanka. So we might see the 2024 IPL hosted in Sri Lanka as well.

This would help the Sri Lanka Cricket Board and their economy, and also strengthen relations between India and Sri Lanka.

South Africa Has Handled the Same Situation Before

The same thing happened in 2009 too. The second IPL season was moved to South Africa because the tournament dates clashed with India’s national election dates.

So the BCCI and the IPL governing council decided to shift it to South Africa, and it ended up being a successful season after the amazing first IPL in 2008.

If a similar situation comes up in the future, the BCCI could plan to host the IPL in South Africa again.
